Are the 7 retired Ministers who have declared their intent to join politics allowed to use police pilots and their Office Landcruisers while campaigning? Recently, Ex - Lyonpo Khandu Wangchuk was campaigning in Paro and he had his police pilots and his office driver was driving his BG (government number) Landcruiser? How does he justify this and how is it justified to the Election fund Officer and what is anti-Corruption doing?

good point....i heard that they got landcruisers....but why are the police guarding the gates of our retired ministers.....dont the police men have any other work to do....

Ten days after their retirement, those retired ministers continue to enjoy the benefits of a cabinet minister. I believe they should be treated just as a common man is treated. Why do they still continue to receive their benefits? Just today, I saw atleast two policemen at the gate of lyonpo ugyen tshering’s residence. And a few minutes later, I saw lyonpo wangdi norbu proudly sitting at the front seat of a BG landcruiser with two policemen at the back. It’s time something is done by the relevant authority.

If they are entitled to police protection and BG landcruisers, all our potential politicians should be provided the same facilities. Since they have already resigned, they are no different from others who are into politics. If I were into politics, one of my points for campaigning would be ‘misuse of very expensive government-owned landcruisers and policemen by the retired ministers’.

I suggest the govt. withdraw those police protection and take back the landcruisers. As a penalty, costly prados given free of cost to their wives may also be taken back.

Since they have resigned they should surrender all the govt properties. If they continue using these facilities it will be considered as corruption.

i think very much that they should not have. who is going to kill them? they never did anything with ulfas and bodos. only wives may kill because they will find about rapa girls and unless husband wins elections they will kill him because he is no longer a lynpo. just jokes ok? they should surrender because all govt people who retired are same. if they get then the others also have right. this also gives extra advantages to them agains their opponents who will not have driver, police gurad, land cruiser govt number. so now another question is about the kamnay whether they can waer the same orange colour

Lyonpo Khandu did not have a pilot with him. I was there in Paro at the time. Yes he did meet some people in Paro but he had to go there to ensure that more dirty work was not done. I hear that some people are trying to involve a religious Tshogpa to get rid of LKW. Very dangerous to mix religion and politics. Such precedence should never be set. I thought we Bhutanese were much smarter. And just this morning, I hear the ECB has issued a notification barring all religious bodies from involvement in any political activities – both directly and indirectly. What a relief? Now the events unfolding in Paro are common knowledge to anyone from Paro (Activities of the religious body). But I am sure the ECB will not take action until EVIDENCE is found – their favorite excuse. Well, if you need evidence, you have to investigate.
And like this activity, there are other illegal activities undertaken by both parties. SO ECB, start investigating rather than waiting. Be proactive, not reactive. There is nothing or anyone for you to fear. The only fear you should have is that our democrary may fail. We want Bhutan’s democrary to be a success – role model for democracies around the world. Let us begin with a good stepping and fulfill the wishes of our beloved monarchs.

And finally, I also agree that all government property should be returned asap without fail. Even the Prados that they got.

just because you are free to write anything on this forum, dont make blank accusations. Lyonpo Khandu Wangchuk never went to Paro in his Land crusier and there was no pilot to escot him. be careful when you write such comments.
and as far as your concern about the land crusier...........then HM has personally gifted it to the ministers for their dedicated service to the kingdom for such a long time.
(Now please dont start saying that they have not done anything for the country).

The security they should be allowed to have should depend on the risk that they have. But in a peaceful country like Bhutan, I don’t think even serving ministers require security except when they are traveling in high risk areas, although even ULFA and BODOS would not recognize them.
Kuensel still refers to them as Lyonpos. I feel Lyonpo droeb (ex-Lyonpo) will be the better term for them since they are no longer serving as lyonpo. they are like any other candidate fighting for a seat in democratic government and the term Lyonpo should be reserved only for the serving ministers.

Like dzongpen said its ONLY been 10 days! so CHILL! If you had benefits from a prior job and the boss didn’t say anything about having to return everything, wouldn’t anyone just hold on to it as long as they were allowed to? Anyway my guess is they will probably be allowed to hold on to all those goodies at least up until the new ministers have been elected

i agree that i said ‘10 days’. but u should have noticed that i made that statement on 10th August. therefore, when you made your post, it was already 1 month and 19 days.

i still see some retired ministers using our landcruisers...i mean our government’s (everthing that belong to the government belongs to the people of bhutan). so it is as good as ‘our landcruisers’. but retired ministers using our landcruisers is understandable if we take into consideration that fact that even other retired officials are using BG cars. To mention one example.... mr zangley dukpa was using BG car even after his retirement.

Dzonpong, what can we expect from a man like Zangley Dukpa, who is wagging his tail to 5 minsters to become MP.  You remeber in one of the morning talks in Sherubte?  He used “superior Complexity “ instead of “supriority complex”.  Again what can we expect from a guy like him who never has class 8 certificate and claiming to have masters degree.  It is said that he passed out TTC in Samtse in early seventy with his assignments done by his friends. POOR Naglay Dukpa!!  And he has obtained his thesis with plagiarized work..

Haha, my apologies . Anyway, as far as the degree thing is concerned, if the government decided to accept it, then it has been accepted for whatever it may be. For whatever the reason he became a minister thats that. If the government is allowing him to use his BG car or whatever, then thats on the government not him. In any case, we need to stop worrying about some old man driving around a chunk of metal and start thinking about whats going on in politics right now. They may be just more people we can criticize and what not but lets not forget that these are people who will be in charge of whats to become of our lives.
