There is a very little chance that I may be mistaken. But as per my understanding, ex home minister, jigme thinley, is responsible for deleting ‘thrue’ and ‘ngyenpa guzom’ from the Bhutanese calendar. Thrue and ngyenpa guzom were two of the many occasions that are considered important by the bhutanese. but, all of a sudden, there was a notification from the home ministry that there would be no more national holidays on these two occasions. and the ‘in-charge’ of home ministry was jigme thinley. i prefer to call him simply ‘jigme thinley’ as he is no more a minister.
these two national holidays were important especially for the people of eastern bhutan. sharchokpas used to celebrate them quite grandly. it was lucky that thrue this year fell on a sunday. next year, it will be on a monday and people will have no holiday to celebrate. i have a feeling that jigme thinley wanted to ‘harm’ the sentiments of the eastern bhutanese by indirectly preventing them to celebrate these occasions. some may say that one could always celebrate no matter which day of the week it fell on. but not all people stay home.. some are working in offices and some are students.. without holiday, not all members of the family can come together. if there was a logic for striking these holidays off, it was not made known to any one.
person responsible for all this is now touring the eastern bhutan indirectly begging for votes. he wa a ‘punap’ a few months ago and now he dares to say (he said so atleast in pemagatshe) “jang bu sharchokpa ga za gila”.
this same person, and another ‘high’ official of bhutan were responsible for not allowing tourists in eastern bhutan. when chimis from east put up in the NA the grievances of the eastern bhutanese from prohibition of tourists, these two people were prompt in rejecting what the people had to submit.
PEOPLE… BEWARE OF THIS MAN. BEFORE GIVING YOUR PRECIOUS VOTES TO HIM, ANALYZE HIS DEEDS VERY CAREFULLY.
Palden Drukpa Gyalo.
