Acute shortage of water in Thimphu has affected almost everyone in Thimphu starting from the essential service of hospital to the daily lives of people in the residential complex like Changbandu. What has the city Corporation done about it, just blame the growth in construction and saying that it will be solved once the construction is over by 2008. I don’t believe in it, and construction will never stop unless the developmental activity stops.
Why don’t the concerned authority think about starting some water works , where Thimphu river can be purified and made consumable like it has been done in other big cities.  Instead of talking about painting the Thimphu town green, increasing the parking fees by 100% or having a uniform signboard in every shop, more constructive works can be done if the need of the people are put in front of all these matters. I feel it is really high time to think about the essential item like water at par with the growth of consumer.
