nothing much to write about these days with the political parties suddenly at a quiet phase. news about politicians is being covered by every paper and the bbs is sickening us with their endless interviews with the ministers who resigned. so apwangdrugay will now change the subject
new secretaries were appointed to the posts of agriculture, works and human settlement and also the national land commission. bbs has a new md who is a lady by the name of pema. if she is good looking may she appear on tv if not, please stay in the backrooms
the new secretaries are a unique lot. most unexpected. except for the vice chancellor one i think even i apwangdrugay was left flabbergasted. in a few months these new secrearies will develop their own little chamcha circles within the ministries and function like big lords. this big shot syndrome is a part of bhutanese psyche and these secretaries will slowly become unregnizable from the habus and karma dorjis of the past with their arrogance and their young girlfriends. how do we prevent this from happening? we must not become part of it. we should treat them as senior civil servants but not as lords. we must expect them to do their jobs.
which in the end brings me back to politics. last time i said PDP was sleeping becauyse all the posts seemed to go in favour of the DPT in the first round of reshuffles. the second round is even worse for PDP. look at the agricluture minstry, the director general of forests (of the SN and Yab fame) has been fired and his junior the dir genral of the agrilcutre division is the new secretary. Then the land commission is with new secretary instead of the old head takchung who was another chamcha in the agriculture ministry in the SN days.
i only dread to listen to the new people named for the finaince, foriengn and home. although finaince would help PDP because if present secretary goes anyone else is better after all rpesent secretary is the wife of DPT minister khandu
