ladies and gentlemen, in the year that has gone by as president of the idiots of bhutan i have learned a lot of things. ruling you all, idiots that is, has been easy. you have no idea what is happening other than what the person in front of you is saying. sometimes you dont even know what you are saying while you are saying it. so thank you idiots for letting me be the president of this esteemed society
the real ruler of the country gave up his powers and the new ruler is helping to speed up the process - really how did we idiots end up being born in this amazing land? somehow there seems between the sky and the earth to exist a sieve, a filter which decides which of the powers go down to the people and which should stay somewhere in between. this filter seems to be very very strong because the people holding it have kept all the power. when the king was there they were ministers, then the king gave up his powers to the minister, then the king said let thepeople have all the power after 2008, so what did they do? they became ‘humble members of the people”. so now the ministers are touring as ordinary folks and taking all the power that has been granted. what do we idiots do? we get fully involved. we decided that we have to take sides and whoever supports someone else is to be hated. our country is being divided into people who are either related, from thesame community, being paid by or is forced by, the PDP or the DPT. we are no longer bhutanese. we are politicians. how fast things change, it s unimaginable. well not that unimaginable after all if you can go from riding high and mighty in a land cruiser followed by a prado to being a true son of the soil living in huts anything is possible
so there it is my fellow idiots, we are being fooled. how do you fool idiots when they are already fools? by making an idiot think he is smart and knows what politics is about and then getting him to fight for you. thats what the parties are doing. they want you to believe you know what is good for the country or community and then they tell you they can get it. i dont know whether i should take a bath or not today forget about what gho i’ll wear tomorrow. the last thing on my mind is what is good for bhutan. but the politicans tell me that i am an intelligent man able to tell what is good for ‘my people’ and they tell me i should join them. i will be a valuable member. i am beginning to take myself seriously now. i think i could be a minister someday and bring bhutan to be the greatest country on earth
sorry, i am supposed to be the president of the idiots i shouldnt think so great. or is thiinking so great a part of being an idiot. i am lost. where am i? in a land where a good king rules over a good kingdom, but a small group of people block the rays of the light from the king to the people. if only we could swat this group away imaagine the great things we would receive over and above everything we already have got from the monarchy. oh hell thy name is democracy!!!!!!!!!!!
